Life Coaching For Teens
Helping Teens Find Direction, Confidence & Purpose
Your kid used to light up. Now it’s one-word answers, a closed door, and a phone that never leaves their hand.
It’s usually not that your teen won’t listen. It’s that they won’t listen to you right now.
I’m Scott Russell. I coach teens and young adults ages 14–22, online or in South Florida.

Coaching For Teens
Teens don’t need to be “fixed.” And they don’t need another lecture — they can smell a script from a mile away. They need an adult who tells them the truth and is clearly on their side.
What we work on:
Honesty — naming what’s really going on, not what they think they’re supposed to say
Ownership — moving from “everything happens to me” to “what’s actually in my control?”
Confidence — built from keeping promises to yourself, not from compliments
Emotions — handling anger, anxiety, and pressure without blowing up or shutting down
Direction — goals that are theirs, not anyone else’s
Habits — sleep, movement, screens, school: the daily stuff that runs everything
We move the body, not just the mouth. The body can’t lie — so we get teens out of their heads and into action.
What Qualifies a Teen Life Coach?
Experience Earned Not a Degree
I’m not here to recite textbook psychology. I’ve lived through my own rebuild — and spent years walking alongside people in theirs, including as a Program Director in substance abuse and mental health treatment. I’ve spoken to D1 football programs including LSU and Ole Miss, and I host the From The Grave podcast.
Lived experience. Radical honesty. And the heart to help someone else through the dark.
Is This Therapy? Or Something Different?
No. Coaching is about the present and the future — habits, mindset, goals, and accountability. We’re not diagnosing or treating anything. We’re walking alongside your teen with real tools, real language, and an adult who helps them feel heard — and held accountable.
Many teens do great with coaching alongside a therapist; the two work well together. If your teen is dealing with depression, self-harm, an eating disorder, substance use, or thoughts of suicide, please start with a licensed mental health professional. In a crisis, call or text 988 or call 911.

When to Get a Coach for Your Teen
If any of these sound like your teen:
Smart, capable — and completely unmotivated
Anxious, overwhelmed, or shutting down under pressure
Angry, defensive, or constantly in conflict at home
Lost confidence after a setback — a breakup, an injury, getting cut, a bad semester
Hiding in screens, gaming, or their room
An athlete whose head is getting in the way of their game
Drifting — no direction, no idea what they want
Most teens aren’t lazy. They’re stuck. And stuck is something we can work with.
How It Works
Free parent call. You tell me what’s going on. I tell you honestly whether I’m a fit — and if I’m not, I’ll point you somewhere better.
Intro session with your teen. No pressure. They decide if they want to keep going. Buy-in matters more than anything.
Weekly one-on-one sessions — 60 minutes, by video or in person in South Florida.
Parent check-ins every few weeks on progress. What your teen shares stays between us unless it’s a safety issue — that trust is the whole thing.
Pricing is shared on your free parent call. Book it here →

Frequently Asked Questions
What ages do you work with?
Teens and young adults ages 14–22 — from high school through college.
What if my teen doesn’t want to do it?
Most don’t — at first. The first session is low-pressure and the choice to continue is theirs. Forced coaching doesn’t work; invited coaching does.
Will you tell me what my teen says?
No — and that’s what makes it work. You’ll get regular updates on progress, and I will always tell you if there’s a safety concern.
Is this therapy?
No. Coaching focuses on mindset, habits, goals, and accountability. It’s not a substitute for mental health treatment, and it pairs well with therapy.
Do you work with teen athletes?
Yes. Pressure, confidence, and bouncing back from injury or getting benched are a big part of what I do. Read: Mental Toughness for Teen Athletes
Do you offer teen coaching online?
Yes — by video anywhere in the U.S., and in person in South Florida.
